Research Assistant

IIMU is a research-intensive institution and Research Assistants are key to such an ecosystem. A Research Assistant ideally works in the area of her interest and assists a faculty member. In the process, one gains valuable research experience which helps prepare for the rigors of a PhD program. You should consider yourself a good fit for this position if you are seriously considering pursuing a PhD, and want to get some experience to see if a research career is meant for you.

The Current Role

The current role would involve working with textual data. You will be exposed to a set of relevant tools. In order to validate findings from the textual data, we may also run some experiments / surveys. The faculty will help you in the process and guide you through each of the steps until such time that you have gained enough exposure.

What is in it for you?

The most important aspect of the role is that it will serve as a testing ground if you are undecided about a career in academia. If you are keen to pursue an academic career, you will gain research experience, work on live projects and also work on a project of your interest. All of these will help you build your research profile and a make you a stronger candidate.

Interns

These roles will be limited to the summer and/or winter breaks. The role will primarily involve data cleaning and analysis. You may also be required to help with literature search. The faculty will help you train on the methods necessary for the job. It is intended for Bachelor's or Master's degree students with an open mind to learning new concepts. High preference will be given to Computer Science and IT Engineering students, and to students with advanced understanding of coding in R / Python / C / C++.
